Congratulations on choosing BlogMutt for all of your business blogging needs! We want to help you through these first couple of weeks so that your BlogMutt experience can be great right out of the gate. To do that, we’ve come up with a BlogMutt success checklist for new customers, and if you follow these guidelines, you’ll find it really easy to get fantastic posts for your blog.
To start, let’s go over some tips to help you set up your BlogMutt account for success.
BlogMutt Success Checklist: Setting Up Your Account
Tip #1: Introduce Yourself
We love “meeting” new customers here at BlogMutt. The best way for us to get to know each other is for you to introduce yourself. The more information we have about your company, the more prepared we will be when we write your posts. In the “other info” field in your Account Info section, tell us all about what you do, your products, and what your audience is like. What’s your goal for your blog? Details are great, and they really help us to understand who you are and how you want to reach your customers through your blog posts.
This is also the place to tell us about any definite requirements in your posts. Should we use Commonwealth English? Any topics we definitely shouldn’t mention? Tone or style preferences? It will really help us get you exactly what you need if we know in advance about all those details.
Tip #2: Choose Your Active Topics
You can think of these as broad keywords that you’ll always want posts on. Choosing your keywords doesn’t have to be difficult, and contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have to involve a long, drawn-out process before you figure out what they are.
Put yourself into your customers’ shoes. If they’re looking for products or services that you offer, what keywords are they going to be searching on Google? You might even want to try putting those keywords into Google yourself, just to see what you come up with. If you scroll to the bottom, Google will be very helpful in offering you even more suggestions. (We also like keywordtool.io to help with this process.) These keywords and keyword phrases are your active topics. Plug those into our system and our writers will get busy producing posts that help you rank for those important keywords.
Tip #3: Start Small with a Few One-Time Topics
Don’t get overwhelmed by the idea of coming up with a lot of topics all at once. If you need some time to get to this step, that’s OK. Start out small and just add in a couple of one-time topics. These are topics that are more specific, and that you only want one post on. Doing this will get you a few posts to start with and give you some more time to get your feet wet.
Even better, it also gives the writers some solid examples of what you’re looking for in your posts. For instance, if you run an antique store, one of your one-time topics might be a post that talks about the oldest antique lamps that have been discovered in the United States. Add a topic description with any directions or resources for the writers to use, and that’s it. You get a targeted post and our writers are able to meet (or even exceed) your expectations on the first try because you gave them a clear idea of your needs. Over time, you’ll notice that the writers become accustomed to the types of posts you like and don’t like, and can come up with their own unique topics without you having to brainstorm them.
Now that we’ve covered some of the “nuts and bolts” of setting up your BlogMutt account, let’s talk a little bit about what you can expect during your first few weeks with us.
One of the things we love most about our BlogMutt writers is that they always strive to do their best. It might take a couple of weeks before they fully understand what you’re looking for in your posts, but it’s important to be patient. Give us feedback as often as you can so we understand what you like and don’t like in your posts. Our writers are talented, but they’re not mind readers. Our goal is to make you happy and we will persevere until that goal is met, but we’ll probably need a little help from you to get there.
A key reason the BlogMutt platform is so unique is because of the fact that you have so many writers at your disposal. You can expect to get a variety of blog posts from our writers because they come from all different walks of life and different levels of experience. This is a big bonus for you because you can put together a business blog that will entertain, delight and inform all different kinds of readers. With such a wide variety of posts, you can choose which ones post on which dates, which gives you more flexibility with your blog.
Your website ranking depends on a website that’s consistently being updated, and you can expect to get posts every week from BlogMutt. At any given time, we have many hundreds of writers who are working diligently getting posts to our customers. However, it’s important to note that not every post you get is going to knock your socks off. That’s OK. Most of the posts you get from us are going to really impress you, but having something consistently being posted on your blog is more important than getting a life-changingly amazing post each and every week.
You probably already know that there are a lot of platforms out there that you could have chosen to partner with you in improving your search engine ranking on Google. At BlogMutt, we understand the importance of that ranking, but we also understand the importance of writing for people. It takes a clever blend of writers to produce content that offers you the best of both, and we believe that we’ve achieved that here. The coming months are going to be really exciting for your business as you see the fruits of this investment start to show up in your website traffic and visitor engagement. We’re proud that you’ve chosen us to take the ride with you.
Following these tips will set you up for success with BlogMutt, but if you have any other questions, please feel free to get in touch with us. Your success is our success and we’re happy to help you as you get your bearings within the BlogMutt system. Thanks for joining us!
